8 January - Day in History of India and Importance


1025 - Sultan Mehmood destroyed Temple of Somnath

1870 - The Indo European Correspondence paper acknowledged the article written by Dr Mahendralal Sircar for establishing the Indian Association for Cultivation of Science published in Hindu Patriot on 3 January 1870 and applauded the appeal. Immediately some donations were made by prominent people.

1906  Howrah railway station was inaugurated

1927 - First scheduled London Delhi flight arrived in Delhi.

1968 Official languages act 1963 was amended.

2012 - Global problem affecting Indian Economy:
PM Manmohan Singh: Economy to grow by about 7 per cent this fiscal
