4 July - Day in History of India and Importance



1789 - Agreement made between British East India Company, Peshwa of Pune and Nizam of Hyderabad to attack Tipu Sultan territory.

1933 - Mahatma Gandhi sentenced to one year imprisonment.


1966 - The Press Council of India was first constituted on 4th July, 1966 as an autonomous, statutory, quasi-judicial body, with Shri Justice J R Mudholkar, then a Judge of the Supreme Court, as Chairman uner The Press Council Act, 1965.
