22 July - Day in History of India and Importance



1678 - Shivaji won the Vellore fort.

1702 - East India Company merged with a rival group and United Company of Merchants of England Trading to the East Indies was formed. In 1833, the name was again changed to East India Company.

1908 - Bal Gangadhar Tilak sentenced to 6 year jail in Mandlay (Burma - Myanmar)
