10 February - Day in History of India and Importance





1691 - Job Charnok, an English man established a factory at Calcutta
On 10 February 1691 an imperial grant was issued for the English to "contentedly continue their trade" with a factory at Calcutta.

1846 - Battle of Sobrhan - Sikhs were defeated by British forces.

1859 - Begum of Oude and Nana Sahib defeated.

1921 - Mahatma Gandhi inaugurated Kashi Vidya Peeth

1931 - Capital of India shifted from Old Delhi to New Delhi

1949 - Pune University was established.

1952  India won a cricket test for the first time. It was against England. The test was won an innings and 8 runs

1992 - Andaman and Nicobar islands was opened for foreing travellers.
